Day 3: The Disappearance

Early Saturday afternoon Brittanee spent some time on the Beach with Peter Brozowitz and the group he was staying with. It's believed she left her flip-flops in one of their vehicles afterwards.

Around 2pm that afternoon, Brittanee's mother, Dawn Drexel, called her about purchasing a pair of soccer cleats. The call was brief but when Brittanee mentioned she was at the beach Dawn thought she was talking about Charlotte Beach in Rochester, NY. They ended the call each saying "I love you."

At 8:15pm street cameras show Brittanee pass on the way to the Blue Water Resort. At the time, she was walking from the Bar Harbor Hotel, making her way to the Blue Water Resort in order to retrieve her flip-flops. She also was out walking, as she had before, because of how isolated and lonely she'd felt since she'd arrived in Myrtle Beach. Blue Water Resort cameras caught Brittanee entering at approximately 8:35pm. Brittanee enters to her right, and goes to the 6th floor where Peter Brozowitz and his friends are staying. The boys in that room said that night that they were watching the Boston Red Sox vs. New York Yankees game. The game started at 4pm and ended at 8:31pm. They had stated to Myrtle Beach Police Department that Brittanee visited during the game but as you can see, unless it was a post game show, that isn't the case.

While Brittanee was at the Blue Water Resort, Jennifer Oberer had been texting her asking her to return the black shorts she had been wearing. The shorts were Jennifer's and she wanted to wear them out that evening. It has been reported that Jennifer wasn't very polite about it and Brittanee decided to return to the Bar Harbor after only visiting for 10 minutes. Blue Water Resort cameras show Brittanee leaving at about 8:45pm. The cameras show her exiting from the opposite direction.

As she had all through the trip, Brittanee was also texting her boyfriend John Grieco. One of those texts she sent was at 8:58pm. In that text she told him how she was so miserable she had already packed up and was ready to leave for home. After this text John wouldn't get another reply from Brittanee.

About an hour later John Grieco called Dawn Drexel to tell her he couldn't get a hold of Brittanee. His texts and phone calls were all going unanswered. Dawn tried calling both Alanna Lippa and Jennifer Oberer that night, neither of them answered her, even after leaving voice mails. Dawn did however get Peter Brozowitz to answer. What she couldn't get him to do though was give her one consistent story. There were three versions that he was giving her, and none of it made sense. Dawn then decided to call John Hahn, a family friend who was stationed in Camp LeJeune, NC. She asked him to drive to Myrtle Beach and look for Brittanee while she was on her way from NY.

Why all the silence? Why the lies? Where is Brittanee? WHO KNOWS THE TRUTH?

Day 2: Last Video taken of Brittanee

By the second day, what many people don't realize, is that Brittanee wasn't spending much time with the friends she traveled with. Those she was staying with were not being very nice to her and as a result Brittanee decided to go off with others for the rest of the trip. She would return to the hotel at night to sleep but otherwise she distanced herself from them as much as she could.

That night, a Friday night, Brittanee met a guy from out of town that was also in Myrtle Beach for Spring Break. It wasn't known until long after she disappeared, but once she was missing this young guy went to his local law enforcement with the information that he spent time with Brittanee Friday evening. During that time, he took a cell phone video of her. In the link below you will see media coverage with clips of the video, in addition to a still photo from it as well.

Day 1: Club Kryptonite

After being told she couldn't go on Spring Break and convincing her mother that she was going to see a friend for the weekend; Brittanee left for Myrtle Beach. The day she arrived was Thursday, April 23, 2009. But she wasn't alone, she was there with 9 other people. All of them 18 and older. Those people were:

Alanna Lippa
Jennifer Oberer
Phil Oberer, (Jennifer's brother & Alanna's boyfriend)
Ugur Ozturk, (Jennifer's boyfriend)
Viet Nguyen
Louie D'Amico
Nico Chirico
Khalid Sinclair
Anthony Humphries

That evening the group decided to go to Club Kryptonite together. They ran into another group there from Rochester that were staying at a separate hotel. The people in that group were:

Peter Brozowitz
Keith Cummings
Phil Watson
Matt Ahrans
Anthony Schmizzi

That night Brittanee was seen in Club Kryptonite's VIP area with Peter. Back home in Rochester, Peter is a Club Promoter. But still, being 20 at the time, how did Peter get into a 21 and over VIP area? How did he get Brittanee in there with him? Who else was there? Did Brittanee catch someone's eye or was she introduced to the wrong person? The possibilities are endless...

What happen to Brittanee? Where did she disappear to?

It will be 4 years, this week, that Brittanee Marie Drexel has been missing. Brittanee had asked her mother if she could go to Myrtle Beach with her friends for Spring Break. Her mother, Dawn Drexel, told her that she couldn't go, not only because she was only 17, but Dawn didn't know the friends who would be going and no parent would accompany them. Brittanee then convinced her mother to allow her to stay at friends home in Rochester, NY for the weekend.
It wasn't until Saturday evening that Dawn Drexel learned her daughter was not in Rochester, but in fact in Myrtle Beach. Dawn had a conversation with her daughter over the phone about soccer cleats she was purchasing for her daughter and when Brittanee mention the beach, her mother assumed she was at Charlotte Beach in Rochester.
It wasn't until late Saturday night when Brittanees boyfriend John Grieco called Dawn, and informed her that her daughter couldn't be located.
Within the next few hours many calls would be made in a frantic search to locate Brittanee. A family friend would be sent to file the initial police report and Dawn would start her drive to Myrtle Beach to search for her daughter.
This blog will discuss the specifics of what occurred during this week, the details that are known of Brittanee's trip and anything else that may lead to finding Brittanee.
